In 1948, Robert Gentry came home from the Korean War. He had a bad knee and a few acres of delta dirt to farm. He had lost his lifelong girlfriend and felt he had little to offer any one. A few months later, he met and married a neighbor daughter whose small farm bordered his. Neither loved the other. It was a marriage of convince. She wanted to escape a brutal father and he was tired of being alone.
