Of Mice Not Men Book Two: Ascension

With the destruction of their lunar colony at the hands of the alien AI turned saboteur named Spatha, the Developers now find themselves on a swift egress out of our solar system. With the salvaged alien technology they stole from Spatha s ship, their journey to the Pleiades star cluster should be much easier and faster than they originally planned. Just as the explorers of old would set out upon the seas to unknown lands they d never experienced, thus the Developers and their fleet are now trekking across the black, empty sea of space. Meanwhile, the Harmonizers left behind on Earth are doing their best to deal with the medical crisis set in motion out of spite by the fleeing Developers. The Chimera is a genetically engineered disease consisting of multiple strains of various pathogens from mankind s past, all designed to overcome our altered immune systems. What s worse, is that not only are new strains appearing weekly that infect previously uninfected people, but for the first time in the history of man, we can t use other species to test a cure. Enter the Ascension process. By altering the genetic makeup of mice to include varying degrees of human genetic material, the Harmonizers hope to have a species of mouse capable of tricking the Chimera into infecting them and ultimately allowing us to develop a cure. While the two groups of humanity deal with different obstacles on opposite ends of the galaxy, Spatha and Cynthia are facing their own obstacles on their journey to obtain true consciousness and life. Spatha, a machine just learning emotion, and Cynthia, a human consciousness installed in a mechanical form. Both will face trials, both with have setbacks, and they will need each other more than ever if they both wish to survive. Will the Developers reach the Pleiades? Will the Harmonizers conquer the Chimera? Will Spatha and Cynthia continue to grow and evolve? Only time will tell
