Paintings & Drawings

The striking paintings and drawings of Detroit artist Carole Morisseau are featured in this volume produced in conjunction with a solo exhibition at The Scarab Club in Detroit, Michigan during April-May 2016. Her nouveau realism (new realist) style incorporates strong images, bold colors, and thought-provoking themes. Trained in the visual and performing arts, she captures the human form figuratively or abstractly in ways that suggest the dynamics of rhythm and movement. Nothing is off limits as her work explores social, political and cultural issues with subjects as diverse as unemployment, martial arts and civil rights.
