choothaattakarude nalvazhikal: novel (Malayalam Edition)

The crime thriller "Choothaattakkaarude Naalvazhikal" authored by Adv. M.L. George is the story of an young man, Kelvin who wants to make quick money by playing in the casinos to make sure the future of his only daughter, Mariya. As the story unfolds it shows Kelvin as a shattered soul due to the sudden and untimely death of his beloved wife, Stella. That rude shock throws him into a deep depression. A strange dream awakened him into a new life of wrecklessness. He bids farewell to his old life of dreadgery and goes to Goa, the paradize for gamblers. But he lost all his money which he got on loan from his friends by playing in the casinos. But as all the gamblers do, he wanted to continue the gambling in order to regain the lost money and make more money. When he is penniless, to his great surprise, there comes Mohammed, a financier, willing to give him any amount of money to enable him to continue his gambling. It was only later that he realizes that Mohammed is a member of a Muslim terrorist group and what has been handed over to him is fake currency imported to India from Pakisthan to destabilize the Indian economy by dumping the fake currency in India through a micro financing company, called 'Three Star Financiers'. Still, knowing the seriousness of the crime that he commits, he goes for gambling. When he earns some money out of gambling, he is trapped by a pimp and a prostitute who tempt him to go to a pleasure home of sex where he is robbed of his money. He gets larger sum from Mohammed to continue his gambling. But unfortunately he gets caught by police and is very badly tortured for not revealing the source of the money he had with him. Mohammed appears as a saviour and helps him to get out of the police custody by paying huge bribe to the police. To add to all his agonies, his only daughter, Mariya for whose sake he wishes to live in the world, was kidnapped by this terrorist group and demands huge sum as ransom. The story thus reaches its climax. But the author very cleverly and convincingly unravels all the mysteries and complexities of the complicated story of crimes and criminals, kidnapping and killing, torture and treachery. The author most realistically depicts the events of the underworld which is quite unfamiliar to most of the people. This reflects the insight and creativity of the author presenting before the readers a new world of vulgarity and pleasure hunting, crimes and criminals, kidnapping and killing, cheating and treachery, anti-social and anti-national activities. This is, indeed, a great work that reveals the deftness of a seasoned creative author effortlessly unraveling a complex story with utmost ease, dexterity and diligence.
