Most people grow up in a twelve block radius, and if you are poor, you live and die in those same twelve blocks. A lot can happen in those twelve blocks, you are born, survive and you die. If you are lucky, you get to live and not just exist. Dominion Grace is born under dire circumstances, the result of a fleeting moment between his mother and a man that she did not know so he grows up not knowing who he is. The one thing he is certain of is that he is different from other boys and in the mean streets of Miami, being different is not a good thing. Along his journey, he discovers who he is, sees his world changing and gets a better understanding of the feelings he has and how it makes him different. Along the way, he experiences love that can make being poor just a little more bearable.
