A Vet's Life: Fifty Years Caring for Animals

Dr. Joe Priest has spent more than 50 years in veterinary medicine. While growing up in the outskirts of Tampa, Joe found joy in caring for animals and watching the daily miracles of animal life. He worked a great variety of odd jobs, including deck handing on a tug boat and keeping time at a cotton gin factory, to put himself through school. He completed his veterinary studies at Auburn University in the early 1960's, then built a practice and spent his career treating thousands of animals everything from miniature pinschers to quarter horses. He found a vet s life to be inspiring, at times challenging and heart wrenching, but always deeply rewarding. This work is a collection of the most memorable moments of Joe s experience as a student, veterinarian, husband and father.
