Aging in Ontario: Diversity in the New Millennium

Geographically, Ontario is the largest province in Canada, with a seniors' population exceeding 1.3 million persons. These seniors are divers in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic status, geographical location and health. The authors examine the effects of this diversity on the aging experience and further explore the health and human service needs of these diverse groups. In addition, policy implications and challenges facing health and human service providers are also addressed. The book concludes with an overview of the availability and accessibility of services provided for Ontario seniors, an evaluation of the relevance of each service or program, and suggestions for prospective programs intended for the diverse population of older persons living in Ontario.
