Wishing

While advertised as a children's book, Wishing proves insightful, poetic, and entertaining enough for adults as well. The stunning illustrations include objects to wish upon as you read (and who doesn't need a wish from time to time?), and the text holds layer upon rich layer of colorful metaphors that literally paint the day "as bright as butter, / a red bandanna day, / with fat balloons bobbling on breezes/ and pigeons sailing so high/ they're specks of pepper in the sky."
