But as is true of many other revolutionary leaders, Villa's parabola reaches its nadir when opposing forces gain the upper hand in the military and political spheres. While he retires in 1920 to private life, Villa cannot evade the chain of revenge that hits him, as well as other losers and winners of the revolution, such as Madero, Zapata, Carranza, and Obregon.
