The March 1992 Forum focused on expert and knowledge systems, which are tools for assessment, analysis, design, and management of power plants and equipment. It particularly emphasized the role of modeling and computer simulation. This selection of papers reflects major current activities in four areas which form the cornerstones of the expert systems in energy engineering: knowledge basis, assessment and diagnosis, modeling and computations, and expert systems.
