During the 1930s and '40s, Hollywood's biggest stars performed on radio. What was the first seen as the chance to promote an upcoming film quickly became a rite of passage - every major star wanted to make his or her mark on the airwaves. The first series to present these radio adaptations was The Lux Radio Theatre, hosted in its heyday by Cecil B. DeMille.
