Writing on the Plaza: Mediated Literacy Practice Among Scribes and Clients in Mexico City (Written Language)

Approaching writing as a social practice, this text shows how people participate in literacy events with scribes. It argues that literacy is a culturally situated social practice, and looks at the contextual constraints on how language is produced, interpreted and used.
