Sour Raisins

I climbed up over the guardrail and as high up the metal structure as I could. I stood there looking out over the water. It was so quiet and peaceful. The city lights were reflecting in the water so beautifully. I wished my life could be as somber and peaceful. Then just as I was about to plunge into the peacefulness, someone called out to me.

"Hey there, whatcha thinkin’ about doin’?"

It was an old man. He was walking towards me on the other side of the guardrail.

"You leave me alone!" I yelled.
"Oh… I can’t do that," he said. "I’m on my way home and I just don’t think I’d be
able to sleep tonight if I saw some girl jump off a bridge."
"Then don’t watch!" I yelled.
