It didn't take long to determine that the new guy wouldn't be as much fun as Uncle Lou and Uncle Jack. Max tolerated him, and struggled to conform. He had no other choice. Max acceded to his new uncle's demands, maybe not too promptly and cooperatively, with an occasional period for debate.
