A Dime a Dozen Teacher's Manual

The teacher’s version of Talent Development Secondary's Discussion Guide to Nikki Grimes' poetry collection A Dime a Dozen, this manual includes a poet bio and tips for teacher preparation and background-building activities for eight selected poems. Each section includes selected vocabulary words, highlights important poetic devices and features, provides discussion questions and answers, and suggests literature-related writing and extension activities. Whole-class discussion pointers are also provided. A special reproducible assessment section at the back of the manual includes a review and a literature content evaluation for each of the selected poems. Wide margins for personal notes make it practical and user-friendly. This curriculum, developed at Johns Hopkins University, is used in schools across the country.
