Resolved to spend retirement with a Bible in one hand and a golf club in another, Saundra Strong Brewer never dreamed the later life God would choose for her. In 2001, He opened the barred doors at Lake County Detention Center in Tavares, Florida, inviting her into the world of incarcerated women. Nothing during her thirty-eight years of Christendom has ever challenged her faith more. The wonderment of God’s work among society’s hopeless continues to inspire this volunteer chaplain, who is also a wife of forty-five years, mother of four and grandmother of eleven.
