The movie American Graffitti asked the question, “Where were you in ’62?” The stories within this book tell where Bob and his friends were! Automobile interest was a high priority for teenage boys during that period and most boys aspired to build their own hot rod or custom car. It was a time when the corner store’s bookracks were filled with custom car magazines that helped fuel and influence this obsession for speed along with the thrill and independence of having your own wheels. Along with life in a carefree time with not many adult responsibilities—at least none that were taken too seriously—came a lot of unforgettable recollections of some innocent, and some not so innocent, automotive-related and everyday teenage life experiences from a fantastic period of time that will likely never be seen again. All of the stories within this book are based on real memories of actual events that have been a source of amusement to Bob and his friends over all these years while being told over and over again during bench-racing sessions that still go on to this day.
