Kriegsmarine

The World War II Germany Navy was called the “Kriegsmarine.” Follow the paths taken on the road of life by Gerhardt Kroner (Gerry) and his best friend Karl Schuour, both sons of German immigrants, as they grow up together in the fictional town of Hartzstein, Pennsylvania. Gerry and Karl are also fierce rivals, always trying to outdo each other as young boys. Gerhardt becomes a captain of a US Navy destroyer and Karl, who has returned to Germany to assist his aging grandfather in his shipbuilding business, becomes a captain of a U-boat in the Kriegsmarine, which brings them together in a final and deadly encounter. Kriegsmarine, in addition to being an adventure story, is also a love story. After returning to Germany Karl meets and falls in love with Ruth Hamerhof, who is being pursued by the Gestapo because she is of Jewish descent.
