The Real World Series and Another Year in the Bronx: Two Stories by Andrew Laz

The Real World Series: When Major League Baseball sponsors a good-will tournament, to everyoneÂ’s surprise, an unknown team from East Timor is winning games by lopsided scores. Mysteriously, all of their players have identical features. When the commissioner determines that Team East Timor is the brainchild of renegade geniuses from MIT, he puts together a team of baseballÂ’s best players to play them, managed by Tommy Lasorda and George Steinbrenner. To help deal with the unknown, Steinbrenner assembles an executive dream team comprised of Billy Gates; the great scientist, Lashman Singh; and gorgeous detective Jennifer Stone. Along the way, Steinbrenner gets baited into betting the New York Yankees that his all-stars will triumph.



Another Year in the Bronx: The Yankees are languishing when Jethro Bodine from West Virginia shows up to try out. The kid is the best pitcher anyone has seen. As with any diamond, the Yankees discover that there is a curse that goes with it. Brian Cashman and George Steinbrenner must deal with one disaster after another, not to mention the boyÂ’s agent, Al Sharpton, and his therapist, Dr. Phil McGraw. Meanwhile, the Red Sox have come up with some surprises of their own.
