Skin Deep

In the 21st century, Earth was overwhelmed with famine, disease and financial disaster; these were followed by a series of super-volcanoes which darkened the atmosphere and plunged the world into a centurylong glacial-age. With the population decimated by the time of the thaw, there were few survivors to rebuild and re-invent their new lives. People had to change their priorities in order to adapt. Now, 67 years later, their descendants had become exceedingly shallow, selfish, and narcissistic; the ills of society were threatening to turn into an epidemic. But there were a few people who stubbornly clung to the traditions and beliefs of their ancestors . . . could those few people cause a revival of values? In this superficial time, a researcher specializing in genetics, his eccentric mother, and a troubled young teen start the ripples of new ideas; those who are touched by their lives feel the effects, good or bad, and cause ripples of their own. Can society remain complacent with so many making waves?

Although born in San Francisco, P. A. Monson spent her childhood in the Lake Minnetonka area of Minnesota. Since 10 years old, she was most comfortable in expressing herself by writing and received great encouragement from her teachers. As an adult, she returned to California where she raised her family in the Sierra Mountains. In her spare time, she continued writing, which culminated in quite a collection of allegorical poetry and 3 partly done books. Then in 2004, she moved to Troy, Idaho, where she contentedly lives with her husband, 2 large dogs, and 2 rescued cockatiels. It was here she was inspired to write Skin Deep, which is her first published book. She is now anxious to continue her other 3 book projects to bring them to completion, also.
