Damaged and Broken: Memoirs of an Abused Child

Mary invites you inside her childhood memories. From the hate-filled projects of Los Angeles, where there seems to be no escape from the life of shame, pain, confusion, fear, and feelings of worthlessness she endured. She relives the childhood trauma of sexual, physical, mental and emotional abuse. She was at the mercy of her mother, a woman full of anger and insecurities, and a stepfather who thought it was his responsibility to show her how to be loved from the innocent age of three to the tender age of thirteen, when she wanted to slit her wrist and die. Finally, she had enough and told him she would cut his throat and watch him die if he touched her again. For the next three years, with the help of a simple summer job, she found the strength to stand and leave the house of horrors she had come to know as home. Mary left at the wonderful age of sixteen and never looked bock. She says she is no longer in pain from the abuse of her childhood. She is happy to say that she is no longer Damaged and Broken but healed and whole.
