Having sustained an injury to his shoulder, Dr. John Watson has just returned from the Anglo-Afghan War. He needs a place to live, and Sherlock Holmes is looking for a flat-mate. Thus begins the partnership between Holmes and Watson, Arthur Conan Doyle s most beloved characters, in a novel describing the first case they embark upon together.
