📖 Description
That Night at Surigao is a blend of thousands of pages of primary source documentation from records of three battleships, a 3-year long diary kept by a Navy Lieutenant, and memoirs. It collates ships’ records with diary and memoir to create a ‘diary-within-a-diary’, matching the history of the battleships with the history of several individuals. It reduces the naval war in the Pacific to the level of the individual and gives the reader a close idea of what life was like aboard a battleship at war. It follows all the major battles from Tarawa to Okinawa. Also included in the back of the book is the book "USS Virginia Crosses the Equator Again."
