Silent Voices in Sweet Water Valley

A story of suspense and intrigue when three children from Boston come to Uncle Luke's farm, near Americus, Georgia, for the summer. Caught by the war, they are unable to return home. Thirteen year old Robert Beal has his heart broken when he witnesses the murder of his fifteen year old sister, Susan. A zealous Confederate Colonel accuses Susan of being a Union spy and has her hanged. Young Robert vows to avenge Susan's death. Ten years later, after graduating from law school, Robert travels from Boston to Savannah and Americus. He visits many old friends during his search, all involved somehow with the hanging and its aftermath. He is determined to find Susan's killer and end the nightmare of memories.
