A Girl at War (Troubador Storia)

Giustina's young married life is torn apart when Mussolini takes Italy into the Second World War in 1940. Her husband is conscripted, falls ill, is invalided out of the North African campaign, and dies in a military hospital in Naples. Left with a young son and ageing parents, Giustina is forced to work as an agricultural labourer. Soon, however, she is drawn into the anti-Fascist Resistance by a friend of her husband's and is involved in several daring, dangerous missions, during the course of which she meets Giulio, a man from a very different class and background. The War takes him away to a different theatre, but she never forgets him. Three years later, after the end of the War, however, she returns home from work one day to find a strange car parked near her house...
