Of the many individuals documented in this book, the story of Jim Mollison from Pollokshields is perhaps one of the most striking. In his day Mollison was one of the world's greatest pilots, and many of his flying feats are still held in awe today and unlikely to ever be repeated. He was hailed as such a hero in America they gave him a ticker tape reception in New York and Holywood begged him to be a star. Another individual discussed was one of Glasgow's greatest comedians, Lex McLean. He smashed all the box-office records in a Glasgow theater and became a legend in his own life time. Other tales include that of Peter Keenan, who went on to become one of the greatest boxers to come out of Glasgow.
