Tradition and the Baptist Academy: (Studies in Baptist History and Thought)

The essays in this volume explore the essence of Christianity and religious practices that are'handed down' through generations, and the characteristic Baptist resistance to such traditions and how this can be overcome or modified. Tradition is not just a set of items of belief handed down (tradita), but is the very act of transmission (traditio) or 'traditioning'. Traditions are 'socially embodied, enduring practices' of living persons.
