Wrong!

You have probably read books about our golden future,' states the author. 'They're wrong!' We're going to hell in a globalized handcart, in an over-regulated and over-governed system of economic unions, military alliances and dictatorships. Dictators are no strangers to the author, a businessman and economist based in Switzerland with roots in Indonesia. A brief summary of Suharto's regime and a tainted handshake with Idi Amin tell us that individual freedom means a lot to Assarian. He doesn't want to be told to use a sand wedge from the tiger tee. And he doesn't trust the Swiss banking system, either! With the USA opening the oyster of Swiss bank accounts to get at the pearls inside, and the blatant mismanagement of his own funds, he is justifiably angry. The economist in him protests; the businessman in him despises. As he paints lurid but entertaining scenarios for the future of Eastern Europe and the possible revival of communism, we can laugh with him and at the same time take note: cigars won't kill us, but globalization will.
