Teacher Education for the Environment: European Perspectives

This is a data-based reference text on the relationships between environmental education and teacher training from a European perspective. It offers a variety of opinion as well as descriptions of specific initiatives undertaken to strengthen the relationship between environmental education and teacher training in The Netherlands, Scotland, Portugal, Finland, and Germany. Each chapter provides background information on the national perspective of the meaning of environment and of the objectives of teaching programs and policies. The contributing authors provide clear examples of approaches and methods that may be replicable elsewhere by teacher educators, coordinators, curriculum developers, and scientists interested in environmental education in secondary school, colleges, and universities.
