The contributions in this volume bring together experts in all areas of marine structures and an overview of ideas between the disciplines of ship, submarine and offshore structures. The papers cover many aspects of the design of ships, submarines and offshore platforms. In the early 1990s, at a time of changing priorities in maritime defence, shipbuilding and offshore technology, an intended theme of the conference was the transfer of technology and innovative ideas between the military and non-military fields.
