Communication and the Mentally Ill Patient: Developmental and Linguistic Approaches to Schizophrenia

This work demonstrates the central role that language and communication play in the diagnosis of the mentally ill. The essays explore issues of communication and speech in schizophrenic patients, such as how language and speech connect to schizophrenia, how speech and language therapy can help the schizophrenic patient, and the links between auditory hallucinations and language. The contributors aim to open up new possibilities for the interdisciplinary study, diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia.
