Feminists in Development Organizations: Change from the Margins

* The personal stories in this book, one of the outcomes of the original project, show that these feminists are ‘tempered radicals’ seeking a succession of small wins that cumulatively over time they hope may reduce inequity and promote social justice.

* The authors hope that there will be greater understanding from those on the "outside", enabling more effective alliances to be built between feminists in different spaces, to foster greater change within international development bureaucracies and beyond.

Every day, in international development organizations feminists make use of strategy, tactics, wisdom and skill to act for their principles. Most of their strategies are invisible and their tactics subtle. They draw on networks of friendships and relationships that create ripples of effect in enabling their organizations to be pathways of women’s empowerment.
