Alcock has compiled a selection of twenty-four well-loved Old Testament passages that touch upon many of the issues that concern us as we enter middle age. Topics include fear, doubt, loss, acceptance, endurance, renewal and the celebration of God's ultimate plan for us as individuals. Accompanying each passage are the author's own reflections, which contextualise and expand upon each theme. In addition, she offers helpful relaxation techniques to be practised prior to each reflection to prepare the reader for meaningful and relaxed meditation.
