The Dairy Industry: An International Comparison

The conduct of government-industry relations in the dairy industry has been the focus of controversy among academics, policy analysts, civil servants and politicians. In a number of countries, large sums of public money have been used to purchase products in chronic surplus. Policy responses have ranged from the imposition of quotas in the European Community to deregulation in New Zealand. Based on empirical research in the countries concerned, this book provides an internationally comparative analysis of the dairy industry in the wider academic debate about patterns of government-industry relations in different countries and sectors, including the debate about meso-corporation.
