The Buddha Digest: Modern Transcriptions of Pali Texts

Although knowledge of Buddhism's institutions and practices has grown rapidly in the West since World War II, familiarity with its primary scriptures has been hampered by stylistic features that render them unduly voluminous and expensive. This book addresses that problem by transcribing elements of the Pali Canon into modern verse, the aim being both to clarify its central teachings and to retell the inspirational narrative to which those teachings are linked.
