The Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace was built between 1822 and 1825 for George IV, and is still a fully functioning stables and home of many of the carriages used for grand state occasions. This fully illustrated guide provides an introduction to the history of the Royal Mews, a tour round the Mews itself, peeps behind the scenes at the work carried out there, and contains clear explanations of the different types of carriages, coaches, harnesses and liveries to be seen there, with stunning illustrations of them in use for occasions such as Trooping the Colour, the State Opening of Parliament or Royal Weddings. The Royal Mews is open to the public from 1st February until Christmas every year.
