While You're Away: New Zealand Nurses at War 1899-1948

Captures the brave and moving story of the New Zealand women who nursed overseas in the South African War, World War I, the Spanish Civil War and the various theatres of World War II. They enlisted for much the same reasons as their male counterparts - duty, patriotism, adventure - and they endured many of the same dangers and discomforts.
