Arrow of Anguish

In 1923 the distinguished and controversial Irish writer Francis Stuart published his first book, a collection of poems, We Have Kept the Faith. Although his reputation has been based on his subsequent celebrated novels, most notably Black List and Section H, Stuart has always returned to poetry. These new poems, written in his ninety-first year, reveal the same insight and unconquerable spirit characteristic of his work.
