Phantom

As the postwar's most versatile combat aircraft, the McDonnell Douglas Phantom F-4 served as an interceptor, fighter-bomber, and recon and electronic warfare platforms, rewriting the book on operational capabilities. With more than 5,000 built and flown by a dozen air forces, the F-4 exhibited a performance benchmark even in its supposed twilight. This addition to the Sovereign Series examines the Phantom's development history in the early 1960s, its deployment, and its operational career.
