To Labour With the State: The Fiji Public Service Association

This study provides an example of a very professional union, operating for over 50 years, which has not been afraid to challenge the political establishment. The Fiji Public Service Association is one of the oldest trade unions in the Pacific islands, and has been the most powerful and political. The history and current situation in Fiji are highly topical, and "To Labour with the State" provides an understanding of the dynamics of historical and social change, and of political processes, in the region.
