Description
Thousands came to start new lives in the mining towns of Aurora, Bodie, Lundy, and the Mono Basin. The migration occured started in 1857 and last through the early 1900's.
Most were seeking gold, silver, but some had no intention to work the mines, but to serve the needs of the miners. There were carpenters, store keepers, doctors, boarding houses, saloons and brothels operators.
This book contains the stories of the lives of those folks and their families. Much of the information came from descendants.
Featuring an index of the 1870 census taken in Aurora.
