The Guardian Falls

This book is about the side of the Indian not many people read about--their gentleness and love for their women, their children, their land and--yes--even their enemies. The Guardian Falls is mainly about two Jicarilla Apache friends, Tamaka and Running Brook.

It is a love story filled with strong passion, tempered with the sensitivity characteristic of the Indian's natural modesty.

It is a story of vicious hatreds leading to kidnapping for slavery, killings, mutilations, and destruction, but this story lets you know there were many Indians who sincerely tried to follow the way of peace.

This story depicts how evil men are alike regardless of race, with self-centeredness, arrogance and greed as their motivations, while good men cling to the right, fight for peace, and work for their livelihood.

This is a story full of authenticity, Indian culture, Indian lore, real places and people. A story of aspiration and failures; of love's pursuit and ultimate victory, of a people of industry and clever enterprise, of home, family, and honor.
