Practical Guide to Water Supply and Terrorism

This guide is designed as a reference for water suppliers. It includes a description of the issues of terrorism, guidelines to protect water and wastewater systems and an extensive list of resources useful to water suppliers. The water infrastructure, computers and cyber security, types of terrorist threats and weapons are discussed herein. The section entitled Guidelines gives an overview of the type of precautions and preventive measures that can be used by water suppliers. The appendices contain an extensive list of references, resources, and internet sites that will also help water suppliers to combat the threat of a terrorist attack and consequently provide a more secure source of water for their customers. This is a reference written for the approximately 50,000 small water suppliers serving under 3,300 customers in hethe United States.
