This book meets the need for a book on disorders from the clinical perspective that children actively seek to acquire a phonological system for communication, rather than sets of speech sounds in particular phonetic contexts. It also recognizes that sub-groups of speech-disorderd children exist, and that intervention should take into accounts the deficits underlying different patterns of surface speech errors.
