The memoirs of Singer/Songwriter SAMMY KING "DID YOU REALLY SELL PENNY ARCADE TO ROY ORBISON FOR A FIVER?... 'Penny Arcade' is MY story. My own account of what it was like growing up in a working class community in post war West Yorkshire. The struggle to survive a life threatening illness in infancy, the disappointment of having one's only ambition in life shattered by an accident that resulted in a two yesr stay in hospital. How music helped to fill the void it le and the awkward journey through an adolescence hampered by disability and sensitivity. This book tells about the pressures of the life 'on the road', the stars I met and worked with along the way, the pitfalls of trying to 'burn the candle at both ends', the darkness of a complete mental breakdown, a broken marriage, turning down a 'shot at 'the big time' in order to bring up a baby daughter alone, whilst still finding time to entertain on the northern club scene.
