Description
THIS BOOK, WRITTEN IN PROSE POETRY, CONTAINS SIXTY-ONE SHORT STORIES ON HOW THE AUTHOR SEES AUSTRALIA AT THE BEGINNING OF WHITE SETTLEMENT UP UNTIL THE PRESENT TIME. It gathers together the development of Australian culture - a unique culture formed by circumstances and environmental issues beyond its control - in which Australians had to learn to cope and bring about change. Modern immigration from every country in the world has now enriched that culture. Th e apology by the Prime Minister in 2008 for Government policies made in those early days gives the Aboriginal communities and their leaders the opportunity to move forward equally with all of the other Australians to evolve and build a nation that is compatible with all the modern nations - it has the population and the intellect to do it - it cannot be left behind. People in themselves don't change very much, but the modern Australian has to adjust to the future. It was fairly rough out there in the early days, but it still can be rough in modern times. Th erefore, Australians must take on the challenges as a community, not as individual groups. Th ere is beauty and wonder out there in the Australian nation for all Australians; they must never be blind to that; they must see and build on it to protect it.
