The Royal College program directors handbook: A practical guide for leading an exceptional program

The Program Directors’ Handbook is a tool to assist new program directors in becoming comfortable and effective in their role, and to provide a reference for negotiating the day-to-day operation and challenges of administering a residency program. This handbook will also serve a resource for experienced program directors and other educational leaders, given its focus on leadership and its detailed coverage of the administrative and procedural aspects of running a residency program. For instance, guidance is included on several specific challenges that were identified as being problematic for program directors, such as designing effective assessment tools, becoming an effective leader, and managing the accreditation process.
