Description
Description
Moving large amounts of data around requires speed that is taxing the capabilities of conventional technologies. How can we continue to meet the physical challenges of fast data transfer, and at the same time, keep costs down? In most cases in the United States, some form of SONET is used to meet this challenge. There is good reason to deploy a stable, standard, and interoperable technology like SONET in these working networks, rather than rely on more exotic, less mature solutions.
Participants learn about the components of a SONET network and begin to identify ways in which SONET could be used to solve today’s increasing bandwidth needs. All of the key components and features of the SONET architecture, including rings, are detailed. We look at the most important equipment vendors and service providers in each area, as well as examine SONET’s role in optical networking and dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM).
