Description
Jim Foster's guardian angel works overtime. She has to. When your charge makes it his business to wander the globe in order to write about and to photograph wildlife in their natural habitats, it comes with the territory. It s only a matter of time before your angelic super powers are needed to ward off mama grizzly bears in Alaska or sleeping leopards in Africa. It s no wonder Foster carries a coin with her image stamped on it in his front right pocket. Better safe than sorry.
Lucky for Jim, and for his guardian angel, his latest project, Texas Birding Trails Prairies, Pineywoods, Panhandle (Wilderness Adventures Press/Sandhill Crane Press), has him roaming safely across the Lone Star state. Lucky for us, his travels bring him to McKinney. Foster is in McKinney this week, to present an entertaining program at the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary on Tuesday, Dec. 20th at 3pm. The presentation chronicles his many adventures as an outdoor travel writer and photographer. Afterwards, he will be on hand to autograph copies of his book.
On Wednesday, Dec. 21st, A Real Bookstore in Fairview will host a book signing in Foster s honor.
With over 48 million birders in the country, Foster s latest book is a must read for all who want to experience the over 400 species found along the state s 220 birding trails. Foster chronicles key birds, best times to visit, and provides directions, and terrain information for each trail. The book features over 200 of Foster s beautiful full-color photographs, as well as, 50 plus trail maps and birder s check lists for each region.
