An Idler: John Hay's Social and Aesthetic Commentaries for the Press During the Civil War, 1861-1865

A monographic study of John Hay's "anonymous"commentaries written during the Civil War whilst Hay was Lincoln's private secretary. The writings, their publication and impact are discussed in detail.

Academica Press is an independent scholarly press specializing in publishing monographs and reference material in the humanities and social sciences.
